TRAINING
Training is an essential part of the Pingelly Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service members. Training exercises are delivered in a number of methods. The most favoured exercise is to get wet and dirty! Hydrant and hose lays allow the members to hone their individual and team skills to set up a hydrant standpipe and lay various lengths and sizes of hoses including a dividing breech and branches, to attack a "make believe" fire. Breathing Apparatus wearers train with support members to enter "make believe" smoke filled rooms to rescue trapped victims. The other methods of training to build competency and confidence are devoted to table top training exercises and also audio visual sessions delivered on the big screen in the training room. Members are also encouraged to train with the Oxy Viva Resusitation Unit which forms part of the Appliance equipment. Other areas of training include Hazmat, Structural Fire Fighting, Road Rescue, Bushfire, AIIMS and Senior First Aid.
